Coach Ryan Shanahan Is a certified member of the USFCA (United States Fencing Coaches Association). He began fencing in College, at BYU-Idaho, where he also received his Bachelor of Arts degree in April of 2011. He is always eager to share what he has learned in this, one of the greatest sports ever made.
Mountain West Swords Academy received the award for best of state through "City Weekly" in 2012, and was featured live on Fox 13 news with Big Buddha in the morning. Ryan and Coach, Phillip Toone got to fence for this live audience at the "Lucky 13" bar and grill, in Salt Lake City. "Talk about a bar fight!"
