Martial Arts and Meditation [email protected] 801-455-1747
Ryan Shanahan: Instructor with Martial Arts Reforged Leadership Academy:
Over the years I've gained experience in a variety of backgrounds regarding the Martial Arts. I have always had a passion for them because of the discipline they teach, and the strength they forge in us, both physically and mentally. The Martial Arts, for me, is not about learning to combat others. That is a secondary result of the teaching. Instead I believe that it is a way of learning to combat the self to become better, wiser, more conscious, and alive! When I teach others the discipline of training, I hope they learn more about themselves in the process. While I offer training in a few styles of martial arts, I also add other elements to the training from my different background experience. This includes Taekwondo, Jiu-Jitsu, Tai Chi, and a variety of weapons. For private instruction or other inquiries, go to the contact tab of this site (above) and send an e-mail.
Meditation
This ancient exercise has been used for thousands of years as a spiritual conduit to greater consciousness. But meditation has many aspects to it which improve the brain and body. In meditation we work to improve concentration, achieve greater focus, and calm the mind to ease stress and other tension. Meditation is a proven method for achieving these things and more. In fact, the US military has even begun training classes of meditation for soldiers. They have found that soldiers who go into intense or stressful situations with meditative training are able to handle the stress much better and keep greater focus with less tension than others who have not had such training.
I offer group and private classes on several types of meditation and techniques. Go to the contacts tab (above) to send a request for instruction. Also look for a new video "Equanimity, Meditation for a better life." Coming Soon!
